WHY WE CARE ABOUT EDI

It’s the right thing to uphold equal opportunity for all, no matter who you are, what your beliefs are or what needs you may have that are different to others.

Creating a more diverse workforce is proven to offer greater levels of performance, staff are happier, our business will be more sustainable and ultimately more successful. It is vital that we remain authentic, transparent and have integrity in all we do.

What is EDI?

Ensuring everybody has an equal opportunity and that no one is treated differently or discriminated against because of their characteristics.

The unique attributes that individuals bring to the workplace are those most visible or commonly discussed; such as gender, race, age, and ethnicity, as well as those less visible or discussed such as class/status, work-life issues, sexual orientation or disability.

The capacity to include difference. The action or state of including or being included within a group or structure.

OUR PURPOSE

Awareness around EDI has become more prevalent over the last decade and it is important that we, as a business, are supporting professionals, as well as upholding our efforts to ensure the STR Group is encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion by taking positive actions.

As a business, we understand EDI includes fair treatment and opportunity for all by ensuring people do not suffer in anyway due to their characteristics, including age, gender reassignment, being married/in a civil partnership, being pregnant/on maternity leave, disability, race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Continuing to support EDI as an organisation, will increase motivation and the wellbeing of our employees, establishing a positive work environment. We’ve come together as an EDI Board, created from our employees within the STR Group, who nominated themselves to establish a voice for their peers, colleagues and the future of the STR Group.

OUR GOALS

To be a transparent, open and inclusive employer. To celebrate diversity and inclusion and be known as a driving force in this space facilitating an ongoing culture that increases performance.

To improve on our existing diversity statistics for employment with STR, and to set targets for achievement of a diverse workforce.

To educate and upskill our staff on EDI approaches through the use of a mix of tools and training.

Enable brands and brand leaders and staff to share knowledge that creates commercial opportunity and in doing so give rise to staff members

Become EDI champions that facilitate the known, associated benefits with increased equality, diversity, inclusion and equity.

OUR EDI AMBASSADOR

Paralympian Olivia Breen supports our EDI objectives and works with us to drive initiatives forward. Olivia plays a key role in educating our employees on the importance of equality, diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace, as well as during the recruitment process for both our clients and candidates.

“I am delighted to be an ambassador for the STR Group’s EDI initiatives and I thoroughly enjoy working with them on our shared ethos of Creating Opportunity Together, it is something that is really important to me. As you can imagine, I love being part of a team as being an athlete means that I work alone most of the time, combine that with being a part of a team that is working towards the greater good and who is passionate about creating a culture of openness, equality, diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace…it’s a perfect fit.”
